CCRC participated in the Sunshine State Games held in Sarasota this weekend. It's a very well run regatta and has slots for lightweights, Parent-Child, and even several Juniors races. Conditions this weekend were the best that I've ever seen up in Sarasota/Nathan-Benderson, and the gold medals are lovely!
CCRC did very well! Our masters entry (they call us older crowd "Veterans") Jim Fentress won a gold for CCRC.
On our scholastic crew, Josh crushed his race in men's lightweight winning gold by over 24 seconds, then raced to another gold with his dad in the Parent/Child race. Jon got a 3rd, but more importantly he just missed a second place finish by only 0.3 seconds! Sierra raced her first time ever; it wasn't a first place but she whooped the Vero Beach entry by 20 seconds! Way to go, crew!!!
Next year, do consider attending this regatta. It's too close to home to not have a monster turnout from CCRC!!!
